Born in 1910 in Bordeaux and died in 1987 in Lausanne, Jean Anouilh is a French playwright and screenwriter. He wrote many plays, tragedies as well as comedies. His most famous play is Antigone, a rewriting of the work of Sophocles, an idea that came to him during the Occupation. He has received numerous literary awards, including the Grand Prix du Théâtre de l'Académie Française in 1980. |
